In an era defined by digital transformation, a prominent player in the automotive and industrial battery sectors embarked on a journey to modernize their operations and fortify their digital infrastructure.
Faced with the objective of enhancing productivity, streamlining operations, and bolstering data security, the customer sought the expertise of Noventiq to facilitate its transition to Microsoft's cloud ecosystem.
An Energy & Mobility Conglomerate Fuelling Innovation
The customer is a multinational conglomerate with an active involvement in various industries, including automotive components, industrial batteries, and power systems. They are also one of the largest manufacturers of automotive batteries in India.
The customer operates on a robust on-premises structure spanning four Active Directory servers strategically located across three different locations. They sought to expand their cloud footprint by migrating 3,500 users to Microsoft 365, setting up a hybrid infrastructure to enhance efficiency, reinforce security, and ensure compliance.
Leveraging the Power of M365
Noventiq had previously completed the deployment of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for 3,500 users on the customer’s end. In response to their migratory requirements, we devised a comprehensive approach tailored to address each aspect of the process.
Noventiq conducted a thorough assessment of the client’s existing infrastructure, workloads, and business objectives. Based on that, we developed a detailed migration roadmap that aligned with their business goals.
Noventiq procured the requisite licenses for M365, and a phased migration approach was executed, moving 3,500 users from the on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Sharepoint, and OneDrive.
Azure Entra ID was implemented across the Microsoft 365 environment. User identities from on-premises Active Directory 2019 were synchronized to Entra ID using Azure AD Connect, streamlining identity and access management for the customer’s end users.
Additionally, Noventiq facilitated the migration of legacy file shares and intranet sites to SharePoint Online, centralizing document management, version control, and team collaboration in the cloud.
Finally, we undertook a phased adoption approach that included comprehensive training and change management programs to educate their employees on the features and functionalities of M365 like Teams, Sharepoint, Outlook, etc.
The Impact
The migration yielded substantial benefits for the customer:
-
Cost-Effectiveness:
Moving to a cloud-based solution eliminated the need to own and maintain on-premises servers and storage infrastructure. This effectively reduces capital expenditure while minimizing operational overhead.
Moreover, instead of focusing on the maintenance of hardware and software components of legacy solutions, the client’s IT team can prioritize business support and help drive success.
